Advice for getting in paddling shape?

Anyone have favorite exercises for getting in shape for the paddling season? Besides the obvious activity.....

Does anyone have experience with the Jackson Paddle Station?

Paddle Station? Kinky, sign me up.

Strengthen your shoulders but I would say that core strength would be number 1.

Personally, I prefer the stairmaster. It really firms my buttocks so the paddling doesn't hurt as much. You want it to hurt...but hurt good, dig?

go for the work out machine, that seems like a great idea
or go for a jog an do some pull ups. when you can do 30-40 you should be set for plenty of good strokes all day long.

I've been taking pilates since January and it's been great for me. It's the remedial work that I always knew I needed for kayaking but never knew how to get. Now my spine bends and twists and does most of the things a kayaker could hope for. I can already tell a huge difference after a few pool sessions and one moving water day.
