A Tale of NSV

At first there were 12...

The tally 200 yrds downstream of cascade 1; 1 broken paddle, 1 cracked boat, 1 pinned boat, 1 tweaked shoulder and one person hiking back out.

And then there were 11...

And then frontrange fred worked a shuttle miracle.

Shuttle miracle to put it lightly. Fred you da man! Thanks also to Pete Roth, Tim Smith and Will Rawstrom for showing down a monstrous group of NSV virigins. Bluebird skies and no snow, that's how we like it.

What an awesome day! Great to see so many clean lines through Cali and below. Couldn't have asked for more sunshine or better company (sorry your boat broke, Fred). More water would have been ok, but there was enough. Maybe we should regroup for a Big South onslaught in a few weeks.

I second the big south mission, I mean we need to give RiverWrangler a chance to get out of a big ice cream dept. Until then, RiverWrangler I prefer an ice cream sandwhich please.

I'll keep a close eye on the gate and will post as soon it opens. Keep your bags packed and try to fix any cracked boat before the put-in (fred).

Shuttle Miracle... one person (fred) hiked to the put-in where two trucks were parked. Somehow managed to get both vehicles down to the takeout. Brilliant!

We actually need a rules clarification on the ice cream, since I had one flip from a piton after the dam (below the second tunnel). If we agree that having someone pull you free from a minor pin (where you don't flip or exit) counts equivalent to a roll, then Evan and I may be tied. However, does a pin count if it occured prior to taking the first paddle stroke of the day (i.e. while sliding into the river)? Also, is a flip where you break a paddle count as more than just a flip? The plot thickens...
