Im the one who posted the write up on EddyFlower. I've been waiting for someone to get after this one for a while. Its not going to be a grade A, five star run by any means. Expect lots of chunky drops, manky features and probably some wood. Its more a run to do for completions sake. A few pointers that I can add.....
Don't put in at the base of the big falls. There are a handful of junky rapids immediately below, and then a brief flat stretch, and then it falls off the face off the earth through an unrunnable gorge that has stacked gradient, and a diversion structure placed right in the middle of it.
Instead put in at the farthest upstream point you can get to from the North Clear Creek Campground. This will get you a couple of miles of fast, brushy, tree line class III/IV. There may be bigger drops lurking around but it's hard to say without getting in there. The creek falls through an area of old lava flows, which means mini gorges and ledge drops. Unfortunately most of the ledge drops tend to be chunky, and not clean like the lava drops in Oregon.
There is a private dude ranch shortly below this, and it covers a few miles of the creek. Accessing it may be an option if you talk to the folks at the ranch, and it may not be either. I don't know if the left bank is private either but I would have to guess so. Since it is private I haven't had much of a chance to get in an explore.
The real stretch you should be looking at is the gorge in the vicinity of Bristol Head Campground. The "Five Falls" section is right near here, and for those willing to hike upstream a short ways more drops may show themselves. This I feel is the best combination of access and runnable drops. If you can get through the Five Falls section then it would likely be a fairly easy romp down to the Hwy 149 bridge, but be aware this is private property at the crossing. Getting out legally would likely entail hiking out a half a mile or so above before the Hwy crossing.
Also check out CLEAR CREEK
for the other bit of info I posted on it.
I am in Vietnam until November so I can't offer assistance or help. If I was still there I would gladly offer my help with scouting, safety, and media, and if this does end up remaining un-run until next summer I would gladly be down to come down and help in any means necessary. And feel free to ask any further questions...
