Baeza, Ecuador

Was down in Ecuador this last winter. Tena was nice, but I had more fun and found better whitewater around Baeza. It's warmer in Tena, but unless there's good h2o, head to Baeza and check out the Oyacachi, Cosanga and Quijos.

Sounds like Baeza is a good call.

Any recommended hotels in Baeza? Meson de Baeza, Baeza Colonial? Would you book a place before arriving?

Anyone recommend a river guide or driver for hire in the Quijos Valley area?

Go to Gina's restaurant and ask for Vicente. He was inexpensive, honest and knowledgable.

Also, there is a hotel right around the corner from Gina's, which seemed to be the best place to eat in Baeza. The hotel (can't think of the name) (we just asked at the restaurant) was clean, pretty cheap and had good views.

If you go make sure you have some of the Ron del Rio rum.
