285

So ... 2+ wks. ago, when Bear started to rise, I took a hike along the 'creek' that flows along 285. KHiked and scouted the majority of the canyon. Driving this daily I noticed a project to prepare and clean for next year. I even told my wife what some of my plans were for this fall.
While in Tampa today on business, my wife called to say she noticed about 8-10 people scouting the 'creek.' including dry suits.
I would enjoy hearing some details from anyone who was there or paddled.
Anyone have a name for this creek?
Thanks. Brian

If this is what I think it is, isn't that Turkey Creek?

That is turkey creek, and Kaleb and Bart ran it today. That thing is woody as hell and pretty manky. We all agreed that it would be better at a higer flow, the electronic gauge is disconnected and not taking readings, but there is a visual gauge at the first dirt turn off as you start to go down "canyon". It was reading about 4.65 feet. That is the basics of what went down, there some good stories to go along with it but i won't waste anyones time.

There goes the neighborhood!!

P.S. Props to Lyle for being like a bald Gazelle dancing on the rocks when things got a little interesting in the 3rd drop.

Sorry mark. I kinda thought about that after i put it up there. No big deal. That's one hundred percent right. We all have to give it up to Lyle. He is the man, the Buddha of safety. I pray everyday that i will some day be half the boater he is.

Pics Soon.

It might still be running whenever you get back. Big cold snap is holding the flows down right now but it's snowing up high in the drainage.

Good to read. I thought it looked like a manky run and needing some bank support. There were 3-5 'drops' that stood out as being fun looking and possibly in need of some support. What did you notice for the run and how much did you jump on?

Lotsa water

Turkey Creek was up this morning. Pretty sure there's a good bit more water than yesterday.
