2016 Bailey Fest > Christmas

Big thanks to Pete and the folks at CW and Denver Water for Bailey Fest 2016. Flows were perfect, Oscar Blues and Good River beer was cold, Liberal Monkey rocked. Few observations from the weekend...
-I saw next to no trash on the river - way to be good stewards of the canyon.
-400 cfs is about the friendliest flow ever on bailey.
-Kickass paddling by the R2 and R1ers.
-For those wrapped rafts...uh kayakers...a little help please?
-How did we not finish all the beer this year?
-Any way to help the landowner with thistle treatment next year?

Turn on the Tunnel!

Here are some photos I got of the weekend... feel free to tag friends, and I'll add more over the next few days.

Thanks for the kind words, Dan! I was a bit nervous about the handoff from Ian, but we had a fantastic turnout and everyone seemed to have a good time. The help from CW was immeasurable in organizing both the takeout party and the registration table -specifically Laurie Maciag, Karen Moldenhauer and board President Elizabeth Austin.

Everyone did a fantastic job of picking up your trash at the festival site and Chrispy's band, Liberal Monkey Movement, blew us all away. Folks came all over from CO as well as Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and even Chicago.

I agree with Dan that the flows of 400cfs were pretty perfect. Also, Denver Water sent out their PR person to the takeout party -which is great. Denver Water is on board with this event as much as they can be and has been fantastic to work with.

I learned a lot this year in the transition and hope to make it even better next year. Thanks again for coming out. Be sure to check out a sweet edit that Kaelan Hendrickson from up in Washington put together of the festival:

Great job Pete and CW! Sounds like a great time was had by all. Unfortunately I could not be there as I was at a family wedding, but I am thankful that Pete was able to make it happen. Transitions are difficult, but Pete nailed it!

In years past, we have done some thistle spraying. I can give you a contact / lead on that Pete for next year. Looking forward to next year!

Great idea! I know that Jeremy from Denver Water (with whom I have been in contact) is a boater and reads The Buzz. It may make the most sense to do so here.
