2007 Reno River Festival

The 2007 Reno River Festival is just 2 ½ weeks away. Everything gets going on May 11-13 in downtown Reno.

This year we are not having an Invitational Freestyle Comp. Everyone is going to compete in a qualifying event on Friday, May 11th. We will have men, women and junior divisions. We will stop the comp Friday around the quarterfinals and pick it back up Saturday afternoon when the crowds are huge and the prize purse is $15,000.

We will also be running a boatercross and a downriver race.

Registration for all events can be done online or at the site. On site registration will have very limited times this year. Everyone encouraged to register online or check the schedule for when registration closes.

Here is a link to the online registration.

The event website has all important information.

I am pumped this year for this event. I will not likely compete or even paddle much but this is a super fun party at a great whitewater park.

I went by the Reno WW park last year just to check it out when i was passing through town. The water was low when I was there (off-season) and it was weird seeing a play park right next to casinos but really cool at the same time. It was like the most vital and least healthy lifestyles coextising ("hey pass me a Pall Mall, I'm about to launch a space godzilla!".

Looks like there are some awesome rivers to run just outside town as well.
