The Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival is coming up this Friday and Saturday in Canon City, Colorado. Any and all paddlers are welcome to participate in the downriver and freestyle events.
The David Schmitt Memorial Kayak Rodeo will now be held on just Saturday June 25th starting at 12 pm. We will not start on Friday as originally planned, but feel free to show up and play in the feature anyway. Ken Hoeve will be announcing the event on Saturday along with the Raft Rodeo at 6 pm that night. The Kayak Rodeo is a Hometown Throwdown so everyone is welcome to participate.
There is a cash purse for every event this year and in several cases it is above $1,000. We are a new event and growing, so all you paddlers can help to make this event even bigger. Canon City has a great Whitewater Park and of course a great downriver race through the Royal Gorge.
You can get more information online at www.royalgorgewhitewaterfestival.com. See you this weekend in Canon City.

there are two classes for the kayak downriver race, a river boat class and a creek/play boat class. The river boat class is for the long boats.

It is a mass start right before the kayaks from the AAE Beach in Parkdale. Please check in at Centennial Park in Canon City before the race and then head to Parkdale. We will provide a bus back to Parkdale after the race for those who need it. Ideally if someone could drop you off in Parkdale that would be best.

The train will follow the competitors and there is still time to purchase tickets for the train. The train will leave the depot in Canon City at exactly 5:45 pm to get to Parkdale.

What boat are you planning on hitting it with? ---Just wondering if we'll be in the same class. I won it last year in the playboat class with the EZG50, but have leaning heavily toward the long boat this year.

It will be good to see ya again. It's been years.
