2 armed Powell launch is approaching - need help
Howdy y'all. I'm starting to pack for my trip down the Green and Colorado rivers. 56 river days with only one portage... I'm so ready!
Anyway, I need a little advice and a little more gear if anyone has the stuff lying about.
What can you folks tell me about the section between Lodore and Deso at lower flows? Has anyone floated it? I've heard that there are a lot of sand bars (Powell talks about this and he ran it later), but I'm wondering if I can make 80 miles in 5 hard days of rowing.
I'm also curious about the dam above Green River. I found a video of people running it, and it looks easy, but and info would be appreciated.
Finally, I'm looking for an eco-safe type groover tank, a sand stake, and a guitar sized dry bag. I would love to buy these items used, but would gladly borrow them if someone wants to contribute to this little adventure of mine. I could, of course, replace the items if they were lost or damaged.
Thanks to all of you who gave me insight, information, and the motivation to leave my job and float for 2 months. I couldn't be more excited! There are spots available for anyone who wants to run Lodore on 3/24, Deso on 4/2, or Cataract from Mineral Bottom on 4/19. Just PM me.
Also special thanks to Chip who sent me money for a handle of Wild Turkey! You sir, are a kind soul.
